Metro Boomin Loses ‘Fire’ Future Beats Due To Power Outage: ‘I’m Finna Go Cry’

Metro Boomin has lost numerous beats he cooked up for Future thanks to a power outage at his home studio.

A frustrated Metro took to Twitter on Tuesday (August 29) to reveal that some of his great work had gone to waste as three different instrumentals he made for his “Mask Off” partner were wiped out when his house lost power.

“Just made 3 [fire] beats on my MPC 3000 and the power just went off at the crib I didn’t even get to record them in yet I’m finna go cry myself to sleep bye y’all,” he wrote.

A Future fan account tried to cheer up the producer by telling him, “At least it ain’t 3 Pluto songs,” but he confirmed that the beats were indeed for the Atlanta trap star.

Metro Boomin and Future’s joint album is one of the most anticipated projects of the year and it appears the A-list duo remain hard at work putting the finishing touches on the LP.

Metro first announced he was working on a full-length collaboration with Hendrix last December. He later gave an update in June, saying that the project was “next up” after his Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack.

“So now that the soundtrack is out… when’s the album with Future,” a fan asked Metro on Twitter, to which he replied: “Next up,” although he didn’t share a release schedule.

Complex then interviewed the Boominati boss at his Heroes & Villains pop-up in New York City, and asked him if he could offer up any more details on the forthcoming album.

“The ultimate project right now is about to be the one with me and Future,” he said. “Now that Spider-Man is out and people are loving and resonating with it, my focus can go to what me and Pluto got coming out. I’m not doing anything until that gets done.”

However, the producer took to Twitter days later and denied he said this.

“I never called me and Future album ‘the ultimate album’,” he wrote. “I was asked what would an ultimate sound like if I were to make one and I said like the one me and Future doing. This is why I don’t really do press or interviews often.. we just let the work speak.”

Metro Boomin also previously spoke about the project in an interview with Ebro Darden, saying the delay was simply due to them ensuring they craft a body of work that lives up to expectations.

“I know how important this album from both of us is going to be,” he said. “With our track record, it’s important that we deliver and not miss at all. Me and him working together is easy ’cause we’ve been doing it for 10-plus years.”

The duo’s track record includes hits like “Mask Off,” “Honest,” “Wicked,” “Where Ya At,” and “Jumpman” with Drake.
