Altar of Gore Goes Hard in Their Uber-Heavy Single “Destined For The Pit”

Like
a
hulking
black
mass
of
putrid
industrial
waste,
death
metal
solo
act
Altar
of
Gore
returns
from
the
grimiest
corners
of
New
Jersey
to
deliver
its
latest
single,
“Destined
for
the
Pit.”
Featured
on
the
upcoming
album

Litanies
Of
The
Unceasing
Agonies
,
this
track
is
an
extremely
gnarly
brain-basher
set
to
harsh
your
good
day.

Unlike
most
contemporary
death
metal
acts
that
tend
to
write
for
speed,
fury,
and
bombast,
this
track
does
the
opposite.
From
the
moment
you
hit
play,
the
song
remains
mid-tempo
for
the
entire
six
minutes
or
so
that
it
assaults
your
ear
drums.

According
to
the
band’s
mastermind
The
Acolyte
Of
The
Foul
Ones,
this
new
track
resembles
a
new
avenue
of
attack
for
Altar
of
Gore.

“‘Destined
For
The
Pit’
is
a
bit
of
a
departure
from
previous
songs,
based
around
one
of
the
most
boneheaded
midtempo
riffs
I
have
ever
written.
The
sound
of
someone
kicking
your
ass
and
loving
every
minute
of
it.”

If
you’re
expecting
something
with
high
production
values
or
any
extra
frills
found
on
other
death
metal
releases,
you’re
not
going
to
find
those
here.
This
track
is
all
about
the
urge
to
bludgeon
your
skull
in
with
as
much
blunt
force
a
song
can
push
forward.

The
album
was
recorded
at
Studio
D-10,
New
Brunswick,
New
Jersey,
engineered
and
mixed
by
TG,
and
mastered
by
Dan
Lowndes
at
Resonance
Sound
(Krieg,
Drawn
&
Quartered,
Witch
Vomit),
the
album
completed
with
artwork
by
Taylor
Smith
(Coven
‘Zine).
