Kanye West Faces New Lawsuit For Thanksgiving Skid Row Rant

Kanye West is being sued yet again, this time for allegedly sharing footage that belongs to someone else without their permission.

Legal documents obtained by Rolling Stone confirm that a man named Elijah Graham has filed a federal-court lawsuit against the Yeezy boss in Los Angeles. The case pertains to a 2021 incident wherein the rapper was present at a Thanksgiving charity event for homeless people on Skid Row.

During the gathering, he took over the microphone and began talking about his marriage and God’s role in hopefully remedying it. Graham, who filmed the speech while volunteering there, wants Ye to pay him for posting his recording on social media without asking because it allegedly damaged his prospects of making money from it.

He is currently seeking an injunction and “actual damages and disgorgement of all of defendant’s profits attributable to the infringement.”

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s seven-year marriage came to an end in 2021, but he didn’t let go of it even after the reality TV star was ready to move on. In November of that year, he addressed the crowd at the aforementioned L.A. Mission event about the power of Christ, but somewhere along the way, his thoughts turned to Kim.

During his impromptu speech, the Chicago native admitted to making “mistakes” in their relationship while expressing his desire to get back with his estranged wife so he could be close to their four children again.

“The narrative that God wants is for you to see that everything can be redeemed, and all these relationships — we’ve made mistakes, I’ve made mistakes, I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable as a husband,” he said. “But right now, today, for whatever reason … I’m here to change that narrative.”

“I’m not letting E! write the narrative on my family. I’m not letting Hulu write the narrative on my family. I’m not letting Disney write the narrative on my family,” he continued. “I am the priest of my home. I have to be next to my children as much as possible, so when I’m out the house, I got a house right next to the house. I’m doing everything to be right next to the situation.

“I’m trying to express this in the most sane way possible, the most calm way possible, but I need to be back at home.”

Kanye West added that him and Kim reconciling would benefit more than just their own clan, saying that it would inspire millions of other families to overcome the “trauma” of separation that is wielded by the devil.

“If the enemy can separate KimYe, there’s going to be millions of families that feel like that separation is ok,” he said. “But when God brings KimYe together, there’s going to be millions of families that are going to be influenced and see that they can overcome the work of the separation, of trauma the devil has used to capitalize to keep people in misery while people step over homeless people to go to the Gucci store.”
