J. Cole Washed Drake On ‘First Person Shooter,’ Says JID: ‘It Wasn’t Even Close’
J. Cole and Drake’s “First Person Shooter” collaboration has created a debate about who got the upper-hand on the track, and JID has now weighed in.
A reporter caught up with the Dreamville rapper earlier this week in New York City and he was asked about the winner in the For All the Dogs face-off, and the Atlanta native sided with his boss.

“I’ma go with J. Cole all day. It wasn’t even close,” JID stated. “We love Drake though, but I don’t know.”
Before answering the question, JID also made sure to show love to Yeat — whether that means he thinks Yeat got the better of Drake on their “IDGAF” collab was not clear.

“First Person Shooter” served as the first Drake-Cole collab since 2019’s “Jodeci Freestyle” and the track is challenging for the No. 1 spot on next week’s Billboard Hot 100, which would give Cole his first chart-topper.
Drizzy will be adding another No. 1 to his collection either way as his only competition is himself with the Yeat-assisted “IDGAF” also in the running for No. 1.
With another chart-topper, Drake will tie Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 hits from a male soloist on the Billboard Hot 100 ever. Rihanna and Mariah Carey are still ahead of him in the category.

Ice Cube got wind of Cole’s BIG3 basketball league shout-out on “First Person Shooter” and saluted him on Twitter for the love.
“Shoutout to @JColeNC for mentioning @thebig3 on his new song with @Drake called “First Person Shooter”. Thanks for the love,” he wrote.
Drake and J. Cole have spent quite a bit of time together this year, including hitting the stage together a couple of times as part of Drizzy’s It’s All A Blur Tour, joining forces on the Montreal and Toronto stops.
