Floyd Mayweather Clears Up ‘False Accusations’ He Witnessed 2Pac’s Murder

Floyd Mayweather has set the record straight regarding recent reports he witnessed 2Pac’s murder nearly three decades ago.

On Thursday (July 27) the boxing champ took to Instagram, where he addressed the rumor mill about him witnessing the late rapper’s demise with his own eyes.

“In 1996, when Tupac Shakur was killed, I lived in the Meridian Apartments located on Flamingo and Koval Ln., which just so happens to be the area where Tupac was shot,” he began, revealing he once lived on the same grounds where the legendary rapper was killed.

“I have never said I witnessed the shooting. All of these false accusations stem from me sharing the location of the shooting with John Singleton due to my familiarity of the area since I lived there,” he continued, highlighting how he believes the misunderstanding came to be, before putting the gossip to bed altogether.

“This does not mean I witnessed Tupac’s shooting,” he clarified. “John Singleton was making a documentary or movie about Tupac, so he reached out to me asking where Flamingo and Koval Ln were located. John was my friend, so I showed him this location with no hesitation.

“The location of Tupac’s shooting is public knowledge and me living near there was just a coincidence. I did not witness Tupac Shakur’s death.”

Earlier this week, Floyd Mayweather made headlines after a clip resurfaced on social media that appears to be from a 2014 visit to Las Vegas, where it appeared he admitted to seeing ‘Pac get shot at the intersection of Flamingo and Koval on September 7, 1996 — when Mayweather would’ve been just 19 years old.

“The car pulled up beside 2Pac, pulled up right here. They shot 2Pac at this light and the car went that way,” Money Mayweather said. “I was living right here in 1996 when 2Pac got killed. I ain’t never told nobody. Only the closest people with me know.”

The late director John Singleton, who passed away in 2019, can also be seen in the clip.

The video came on the heels of renewed efforts into 2Pac’s long-unsolved murder investigation, with Las Vegas police executing a search warrant on a Henderson, Nevada home last week.

The property reportedly belongs to a woman named Paula Clemons, who is the wife of Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the uncle of ‘Pac’s alleged killer Orlando Anderson.

In addition to laptops, hard drives, photos, magazine articles and book manuscripts, police discovered several 40. caliber bullets that will be submitted for forensic testing to determine whether they are linked to ‘Pac’s murder.

The night of his death, 2Pac and his entourage got into an altercation with Anderson, a Compton Crip, in the lobby of the MGM Grand following the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson boxing fight. The scuffle stemmed from allegations Anderson had stolen the chain of a Death Row affiliate months earlier.

Hours later, Shakur was making his way to Death Row Records Suge Knight’s Club 662 in Las Vegas in a black BMW when a white Cadillac pulled up next to his vehicle and fired shots into the passenger’s side.

The “Dear Mama” lyricist was struck four times and rushed to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, where he was placed in intensive care. He died six days later from internal bleeding.

Anderson was immediately identified by authorities as a suspect but denied any involvement and was never charged over the crime. He was later killed in an unrelated gang shooting in 1998.
