Ukrainian Bands Jinjer and Selfgod (ex-Necrophagia) Condemn Russia’s Invasion of Their Homeland
Today, Russia launched a large-scale invasion of the Ukraine, causing loss of life and economic disparity. Now, two Ukrainian acts, hard rockers Jinjer and death metal act Selfgod, have issued statements on the crisis.
“Dear all, as we write this text, for the moment, each member of Jinjer and our families are safe and unhurt. We truly appreciate all our fans around the globe for caring, getting in touch and for all the sympathy and support for our band and more importantly our country.
“As you all know, early this morning on February 24th, Putin started the war against the sovereign and independent #ukraine ! Please know that in this time we really depend on you, our fans in every country- to support Ukriane [sic] and peace in our country however you can- especially our fans in Russia, you and your opinion matter the most at this time.
“NOTHING can justify the violence and death of innocents, and this is exactly what’s happening in our country right now.
“Stop the war in Ukraine now!”
Selfgod, the death metal project of ex-Necrophagia and Automb guitarist Serge Streltsov, issued the following statement:
“It is very scary and sad whats happening in Ukraine. Russia has waged war for 8 years now. They have taken over my hometown Luhansk and now they fully invaded the whole country. My family are refugees because of this crisis. We have lost everything in Luhansk. My own mom witnessed people getting killed in front of her house by Russian forces on a daily basis until she luckily fled the war zone. Unfortunately not all my family members were able to leave. Im here to tell the world that whats happening there is a threat to Europe and the rest of this planet.”
Everyone at MetalSucks sends their heart out to these bands and everyone in the Ukraine suffering during this unprecedented attack.
