Slipknot’s Knotfest at Sea Postponed “for the Foreseeable Future”

Slipknot’s Knotfest at Sea may forever remain a tantalizing what-could-have-been, like an Anthrax fronted by Corey Taylor, or a Guns N’ Roses album with Zakk Wylde, or a Slayer that called it quits in the ’90s. The inaugural edition of the cruise was set to include such acts as the aformentioned ‘Thrax, DevilDriver, Sevendust, and Skindred, but was initially postponed from August of this year to August of next year for reasons that need no explanation.

Now it seems the event is more or less kaput altogether: in a new statement, the band says they’ve “made the difficult decision to postpone Knotfest at Sea for the foreseeable future” as a result of “unforeseen scheduling factors.” I assume that “unforeseen scheduling factors” is code of “coronavirus,” and there’s some legal reason they can’t come right out and call a spade a spade. But that’s pure conjecture on my part.

You can read the band’s entire statement below:

“We previously shared that Knotfest at Sea would be postponed from August 2020 to August 2021. Due to unforeseen scheduling factors since then, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Knotfest at Sea for the foreseeable future. We greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of the Knotfest at Sea community, this decision was not made easily.
