Missy Elliott Honored With Street Name in Her Hometown

Missy Elliott has been honored in her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia on Tuesday when the city council unanimously approved a citizen’s request to name a street Missy Elliott Boulevard, WTKR reports. “I am forever GRATEFUL,” Elliott wrote on Twitter.

It’s a section of McLean Street between Airline Boulevard and Greenwood Drive. It’s a section of the city that includes Woodland Park, the Portsmouth campus of Tidewater Community College, Victory Crossing Shopping Center, and the future site of the Portsmouth Rivers Casino.

Elliott got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last year, and she also joined the inaugural class of the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame. She recently offered some free advice to all artists working on their sophomore albums.
