Miley Cyrus Shares Touching Tribute to Her Late Grandma: ‘You Will Forever Be My Inspiration’

Miley Cyrus is mourning the death of her beloved grandmother Loretta Finley.

On Saturday (Aug. 22), the 27-year-old pop star shared an emotional tribute to her maternal grandma, whom she lovingly referred to as “Mammie,” on Instagram. Her post included a gallery of past photos and videos, including a clip of Finley on the red carpet and a snapshot of her cuddling with baby Miley.

“Even though you are gone…. NOTHING has or ever will change. You will FOREVER be my inspiration and fashion icon,” Cyrus captioned the post. “Even more than that the ultimate model of being a true LIGHT in a dark world. You are sunshine. Everyday I wake and see that fiery ball in the sky I will see your face. Then say a prayer thanking heaven above for giving me the best grandmother a girl could ever be gifted.”

The “Midnight Sky” singer added, “I will miss you for the rest of my life…. I will keep your spirit here by continuing to do good for others and treating them the way we all desire to be treated. With an infinite amount of the same gentle kindness you displayed daily. We will ache everyday you are not with us….”

Cyrus also took to her Instagram Stories to update fans on why she’s been absent in recent days.

“To my fans: I know it feels like I disappeared that last few days…. but someone that means more to me than words can say did the same,” she wrote alongside an image of her grandmother. “I am completely heart broken.”

In another post, Cyrus shared a home video of herself acoustically performing “Miss You So Much” for her grandma, who sits nearby listening with a smile.

“This is a song I wrote in 2016 for my Mammie that was later released on Younger Now. I know she is in her 40’s loving life with my grandad up in heaven,” the songstress wrote captioned the clip.
