Nightlife: a Soulful, Funky, Djenty Good Time

Praise be Metal Injection for alerting us to the existence of Baltimore self-described “soul punk” band Nightlife who, simply put, take a classic soul musical foundation and heavy it up with djenty, funky grooves. If that sounds anathema to you, please don’t give up on me just yet; watch the video for “New Low” below and you just might be impressed, and there’s also a good chance the song’s refrain will be stuck in your dome after just one listen. It’s also always a positive to see kids of color in the heavy music scene, and I hope to hear more from these fellas soon. Their New Low EP is out now and available at Bandcamp.
